In the sport of clay pigeon shooting, shooters are required to fire numerous shotgun rounds both in training and competition, which may lead to chest discomfort and a potential decline in sports performance.<\/h3>\n

[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/6″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/6″][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_empty_space height=”50px”][vc_video link=”https:\/\/youtu.be\/Urg5x7BCHo8″][vc_empty_space height=”50px”][vc_column_text]To address this issue, through the use of thermography and sports performance analysis, we examined the effectiveness of the Futur-K6AM buttstock<\/strong>, comparing it with traditional wooden stocks commonly used in clay pigeon shooting.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/6″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/6″][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

The research conducted through a simulated trap shooting competition<\/h2>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]A simulated TRAP competition was conducted using an over-and-under shotgun<\/strong> (Sporting model, Franchi). Six male and female subjects were recruited (age 28.4\u00b13.2 years; BMI 21.7\u00b11.8 kg\/m2) with a minimum of 4 years of shooting experience.<\/p>\n

Each shooter fired with the same shotgun and cartridges in the first and second trials<\/strong>, with the only modification being the buttstock. Shooting sessions were separated by 60 days of rest.<\/p>\n

As injuries are related to variations in blood flow reflected on the skin [1], infrared thermographic technique was used<\/strong> to analyze the upper trunk, comparing temperature changes before and after four shooting series (100 clay pigeons, 25 pigeons\/series).<\/p>\n

Performance was assessed as the percentage of hits on the clay pigeon<\/strong>, using the ISSF Trap scheme 1.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”50px”][vc_single_image image=”19337″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

As the graph shows, a statistically significant difference can be seen (p<0.04) in terms of score (broken targets), during the fourth series.<\/h6>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”50px”][vc_column_text]One-way ANOVA was used to compare temperature variations<\/strong> within the region of interest (the area of interface between the shotgun and the shooter was previously identified in the infrared images)[2]<\/strong>.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/6″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/6″][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

The results of the scientific research<\/h2>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]The use of the Futur K6AM buttstock resulted in a significantly lower temperature increase (0.63\u00b10.26\u00b0C, p<0.01)<\/strong> compared to the standard buttstock (1.17\u00b10.6\u00b0C).<\/p>\n

Performance showed a statistically significant result (p<0.04)<\/strong> during the fourth shooting series, where shooters achieved a higher score (23\u00b11.1) using the Futur-K6 AM buttstock, compared to the standard buttstock (21.5\u00b11.05).[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”50px”][vc_single_image image=”19340″ alignment=”center” onclick=”custom_link” img_link_target=”_blank”][vc_empty_space height=”50px”][vc_column_text]In conclusion the Futur-K6 AM buttstock reduces the temperature increase in the anatomical area in contact with the buttplate and improves performance<\/strong>, especially in the latter part of the competition.<\/p>\n
